“Lebanon Cross Sectoral Energy Efficiency and Removal of Barriers to ESCO Operation” project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) (www.gefweb.org), managed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) (www.undp.org.lb) and executed by the Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW) for a period of five years starting April 2002. The goal of this project is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Lebanon, resulting from inefficient end-use energy consumption in all sectors of the economy, by removing the barriers to the wide scale introduction of energy efficiency and energy conservation measures in all sectors of Lebanese society and by improving demand side energy efficiency through the creation of a multi-purpose Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation not Planning (LCECP).
